Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network Expands to 50 Live Stations: 180kW Fast Charging Goes Live on Mumbai–Pune Expressway with HPCL

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Electric SUV - Born Electric Performance Concept

The Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network has officially achieved a critical infrastructure milestone, scaling up to 50 operational charging stations and 200 live charging points across India. Anchoring this nationwide rollout is the operationalization of its first joint station with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), strategically located at the HP Auto Care Centre, Sajgaon, on the bustling Mumbai–Pune Expressway.

The expansion of the Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network reflects Mahindra’s broader mission to accelerate electric mobility infrastructure, reduce highway range anxiety, and provide high-speed charging corridors connecting key urban centers across the country.

Strategic Partnership with HPCL Goes Live on Key Corridors

The debut of the Sajgaon station marks the first operational deployment resulting from the agreement signed between Mahindra and HPCL in March. Under this collaboration, high-capacity DC fast-charging infrastructure will be set up across HPCL’s extensive nationwide retail outlet network, which spans over 25,000 fuel stations across prime highways and tier-1 metropolitan cities.

Key infrastructure developments highlighted in the rollout:

  • Mumbai–Pune Expressway Presence: Providing dependable ultra-fast charging along one of western India’s highest-density intercity transit arteries.

  • Pipeline of Joint Sites: Several additional highway stations developed under the Mahindra-HPCL partnership are currently undergoing site engineering and final civil commissioning.

  • Wayside Amenities: Stations are co-located alongside highway dining spots, food courts, and coffee lounges, allowing EV drivers to take short breaks while their vehicles replenish battery charge.

180 kW Ultrafast Dual-Gun DC Chargers and Vehicle Compatibility

A defining technological feature of the Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network is the standardized deployment of dedicated 180 kW dual-gun DC fast chargers.

Engineering and charging performance metrics:

  • 20-Minute Fast Charging: The 180 kW chargers are engineered to power Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUV lineup—including the XEV 9e, BE 6 SPORTEQ, and XEV 9S—from 20% to 80% State of Charge (SoC) in approximately 20 minutes under standard test conditions.

  • Multi-Brand Open Ecosystem: While tailored to maximize charging curves for Mahindra electric vehicles, the network functions as an interoperable open ecosystem, allowing electric passenger cars from all automotive manufacturers to charge seamlessly.

  • Dual-Gun Architecture: Dual-gun distribution optimizes power management, enabling simultaneous fast charging for multiple electric vehicles during peak transit hours.

Application Integration: Me4U, Charge_iN, and HP eCharge

Software accessibility remains central to the Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network user experience. EV owners can locate, book, and initiate charging sessions using multiple digital interfaces:

  • Dedicated Mobile Apps: Accessible directly via the “Charge_iN by Mahindra” app, the integrated “Me4U” connected vehicle platform, and popular third-party EV charging aggregator applications.

  • HP eCharge Synergy: The network will soon be fully discoverable and payable through HPCL’s proprietary HP eCharge mobile app.

  • Aggregated Public Access: Through the Me4U platform, Mahindra EV owners gain unified access to approximately 35,000 public charging points operated across leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) throughout India.

Road to 1,000: Scaling Up to 250 Stations by December 2027

Mahindra has mapped an aggressive expansion plan for its proprietary highway charging ecosystem. By December 2027, the company aims to scale the Mahindra Charge_iN EV Charging Network to 250 dedicated charging stations featuring approximately 1,000 charging points.

Reaching 50 live stations and 200 operational points represents the successful completion of the first 20% phase of this long-term infrastructure roadmap. By combining 180 kW ultrafast hardware with high-visibility highway fuel retail networks, the initiative addresses long-distance travel feasibility for the next generation of electric vehicle adopters in India.
