HyperX Cloud Core gaming headset is probably the best sounding headset I’ve seen for under 5000 INR it was clear on the low-end and crisp though the mids and highs, I was unable to get it to destort through use with an Xbox One.
the design and build quality is not lacking. the ear cups were just a bit small to be completely over-the-ear cups and the firm design was just a tad bit snug when wrapped around my big ears and big head. they did not feel like they had thin plastic pieces that could become brittle in the near future like my previous pair of Tritton Detonators did and eventually snapped in half. I do feel that the headset would likely loosen up after extended use and the tight fit would ease up around my ears. this is not a knock on the product, just a notice that fellow bigheaded gamers might want to be aware of. The mic was sturdy and removable so you can take these away for use with a mobile device or simple audio playback. The audio cable was also braided and felt of good quality, I held no fear of the cable plastic becoming brittle over time.
sound quality, outstanding simply put. I used them on the Xbox One and they sounded great through the 3.5mm jack on my controller and even through the microsoft stereo headset adaptor. however here is the reason I ended up returning them after roughly 6-7 days. with the Xbox One, the use of the console’s mic monitoring feature can only be used when a headset is plugged into the 3.5mm jack, if you plug-in using the headset adaptor then the mic monitoring feature cannot be used. now, if you live alone and are not often in need of game & chat volume adjustments or needing to mute then this isn’t as big of a deal as you can hit the “home x2” button and the game, chat & mic monitoring buttons along with a mute mic switch are available on the left dashboard. however, I purchased the gaming headset based on the issue that I play late at night while my wife and 2 kids sleep so I always need volume controls and mute quite often and I prefer them at my finger tips. the HyperX Cloud do not have any in-line audio controls so it was either use the home x2 every single time I needed to mute or bump sounds up/down, or use the adaptor and try to remember not to continually raise my voice as I play or return them… unfortunately I had to return them but this is not a knock on the headset as they did 100% what they say they can do, it was sadly a limitation based on my Xbox One’s audio controls. again the 53mm drivers were absolutely amazing from the lows to the high end sounds.
if you are purchasing this headset for PC or PS4 use, I’d say these are 10/10 in quality for the price.
if you are purchasing these for the Xbox one, I would give them an 7/10 if you really need audio control at your finger tips and a 9/10 if you do not mind the potential drawbacks of using either the 3.5mm or audio adaptor.
